Nicolae Popa Folk Art Museum, Târpești

A private museum founded in 1964 by folk artist Nicolae Popa (1919–2010) – sculptor, maker of masks and folk costumes and author of folklore books – in his homestead at Târpești.
The yard is an open-air museum lined with naïve wood and stone sculptures, while the traditional six-room house and a pavilion hold over 3,000 objects. Collections include archaeology (Neolithic and Dacian), coins, ethnography, old icons on wood and naïve painting and sculpture. Popa's works were exhibited across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
