Exhibition “The Dream of the First Polar Night – Belgica – the Antarctic Expedition, 1897–1899”

History and Archaeology Museum Piatra Neamț
A travelling exhibition on the first human wintering in Antarctica, aboard the Belgica (1897–1899), produced with the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History. The objects include pieces that belonged to Emil Racoviță, the expedition's biologist.

Patronal feast of Agapia Monastery
Agapia Monastery Museum and Living Museum
Patronal feast of the princely church at Agapia din Vale, dedicated to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The foundation of hatman Gavriil Coci (1641–1643), painted inside by a young Nicolae Grigorescu, welcomes pilgrims from all over Moldavia on this day.

The winter customs festival, with carols, New Year wishes and masked processions from the villages of Neamț. The parade crosses the city centre and ends with a show in Ștefan cel Mare Square. The festival has run since 1969.
Commemoration of Ion Creangă’s death at Humulești

Ion Creangă died on 31 December 1889. The day is kept at the house in Humulești where he was born, now a memorial museum, with readings from Memories of My Boyhood.

Ion Creangă was born on 1 March 1837 in Humulești. The memorial house hosts the ceremony of the Ion Creangă National Prose Prize and the laying of wreaths.

Ceahlău Monastery Feast – Transfiguration Pilgrimage
The Transfiguration pilgrimage, the feast of Mount Ceahlău. Pilgrims climb from Durău and Stănile hermitage and arrive the evening before for the vigil; the liturgy is held at dawn at the monastery below Toaca peak.
